October’s Premium Bonds draw crowns two new millionaires in Derbyshire and Gloucestershire

  • Over 5.9 million Premium Bonds prizes worth more than £461 million were drawn for October
  • The £1 million jackpot winning bonds were purchased ten years apart in March 2023 and February 2013
  • A Gloucestershire holder with £275 in Premium Bonds has scooped £100,000 this month

October’s Premium Bonds draw brings life-changing wins to two holders in Derbyshire and Gloucestershire who pick up the £1 million jackpot prizes.

The October draw saw over 5.9 million prizes awarded, worth more than £461 million.

The first Bond number drawn was 535MK963637 and is held by a winner in Derbyshire. They have a holding of £50,000 in Premium Bonds and purchased their winning Bond in March 2023. They become the fifth £1 million winner from Derbyshire.

The second Bond number drawn was 203JB525288 and is held by someone in Gloucestershire. The winner has a holding of £29,900 in Premium Bonds and purchased their winning bond in February 2013. They become the eighth jackpot winner from Gloucestershire.

Since the first Premium Bonds prize draw in June 1957 around 719 million prizes have been drawn with a combined value of £33 billion – with £3 billion since April this year.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said:
“Congratulations to our newest Premium Bonds millionaires from Derbyshire and Gloucestershire. I’m sure these wins will help to bring some autumnal cheer to our lucky Bond holders.

“But it’s not just about our jackpot winners though - this month saw one £100,000 prize go to a holder with just £275 invested, and another to a winner who bought their winning bond 47 years ago back in July 1977. This shows that all eligible £1 Premium Bonds, regardless of when they were bought, have an equal chance of winning.”

Unclaimed prizes
Premium Bonds prize winners are notified when a prize is won, but sometimes people move or change their contact details without letting NS&I know. This can lead to unclaimed prizes if the Bond holder has opted to receive prizes by cheque rather than paid directly into a bank account.

In Derbyshire, there are currently 24,356 unclaimed prizes worth £861,350. The largest unclaimed prize in Derbyshire is worth £25,000 from the March 2016 draw.

While in Gloucestershire, 22,595 prizes with a total value of £768,875 are waiting to be claimed. The largest unclaimed prize is £5,000 and this was from the April 2019 prize draw.

More than nine in ten prizes are now paid directly into winners’ bank accounts or automatically reinvested into more Premium Bonds. This way is quicker and more secure than waiting for a cheque. Customers can find out how to change prize delivery options here.

People can check for unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes easily by using NS&I’s online prize checker or the prize checker app using their holder’s number.

There are currently 2,459,320 unclaimed prizes worth £88,403,850 waiting to be claimed by holders of Premium Bonds.
